My thought was "Either this is brilliant or the biggest sandbag full of crap ever". Years later, I am tending towards the former opinion. This film is so blazingly David Lynch it's not even funny. But it took a director like David Lynch to make the weirdness of the story normal. And for that, I thank him. I never read the books and never will. But this movie is a visual and thematic banquet.

And hey, where else does one get to watch an entire gang of black, PVC sporting freedom fighters ride a 400 foot long penis?JDnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-79723819638700739.post-66441009004348436142009-10-07T07:10:09.830-07:002009-10-07T07:10:09.830-07:00I watched Dune last night on DVD and forgot how am...I watched Dune last night on DVD and forgot how amazing it is. Have you seen the 2000 sci fi channel miniseries? It's okay, but the 2003 Children of Dune (a combination of books 2 & 3) is fantastic! After I caught it when I was in high school I *attempted* to read the book. I say attempted because I soon became convinced that one could only enjoy the book if on acid (spiiiiiiiice) and that left no hope for the film.ajnabihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08296593338690811213noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-79723819638700739.post-47734941066736770982008-10-02T00:11:00.000-07:002008-10-02T00:11:00.000-07:00Dune. I only saw the movie once and wasn't too impressed but looking at your screencaps I wonder why I failed to remember how cute Paul looked.
